On Friday, June 11th, Friends of Wednesday’s Child celebrated their new location and new name with an open house. Now located at 2801 Swiss Avenue in the Wilson Historic District, Friends of Wednesday’s Child has a beautiful and spacious office in the center of a non-profit community sponsored by the Meadows Foundation.
This move would not have been possible without the generous support and assistance provided by the Meadows Foundation and the Hoblitzelle Foundation, for which Friends of Wednesday’s Child is extremely grateful. Board members, Alliance members, partners, and friends joined us at this new location to celebrate our mission, to bring hope and healing to North Texas foster children, and the recent accomplishments that will enable us to serve more children in more ways.
Channel 8 News anchor, Gloria Campos, has been the producer and face of WFAA-TV’s program, Wednesday’s Child, for almost twenty years. The segment, which features foster children in hopes of finding them a forever home, has led Gloria to become a strong supporter and a public voice for the children we serve. When Gloria spoke at the open house, she emphasized the importance of providing for the needs of foster children and helping them to experience as normal a childhood as possible. At the event, Suzanne Bock Grishman, the new president of The Hearts and Hands Alliance, announced that Leanne Tuohy, the inspiration for The Blind Side, will be this year’s speaker at the Annual Luncheon on December 3rd at the Ritz Carlton. She also announced that Larry Friedman will be starting a men’s Alliance to establish more support for Friends of Wednesday’s Child. We are very excited to use our new and more easily identifiable name, Friends of Wednesday’s Child, and our larger office space to continue fostering change in the lives of North Texas foster children.

We are very excited about our name changing to Friends of Wednesday’s Child! It doesn’t change who we are or what our mission is but it will help us to stand apart from others and allow us to be identified more easily.
Since 1984 we have been fostering change in the lives of foster children in North Texas and we continue to help these children overcome pasts of abuse and neglect and claim futures as confident, independent members of the community.
Friends of Wednesday’s Child is the only organization that provides funds to fulfill the specific needs of North Texas foster children when no one else can or will so they are able to have as normal a childhood as possible. It’s often times the simple things that make a significant difference.
We invite you to join us in fostering change in the lives of foster children in North Texas.
